They are the backbone of our non-profit organization and provide stability for our program! They have been faithful to commit to give what they can every month to end teenage poverty-based prostitution.
FIND OUT WHAT YOUR MONTHLY SUPPORT CAN DO!
Sponsor a Girl for a year| $500/ Month
Crazy right?! $6000 a year covers everything needed to take care of all expenses. This includes school fees, books, transportation, medical, insurance, savings, food, clothes, housing supplies, and anything else that could be a barrier to care.
Rent| $840/Month
This is our biggest expense. Our rent was recently raised and we decided that it was worth it for the girls to keep some consistency and stay in the home rather than move and risk losing a girl from the program.
College School Sponsorship| $180/month
Tuition and board are covered in this expense. Once our girls reach college they are able to live in a dorm or small apartment by their school, they start a part-time job, and work towards navigating life. These girls are so powerful and bright in this stage of the program as they work towards taking their life in their own hands!
High School Sponsorship| $75/month
Kenya does not have a free education system. Every grade has a school fee structure on top of books, uniforms, supplies, and activity fees. This will cover the cost of all these expense for a girl for a year.
Middle School Sponsorship| $55/month
Kenya does not have a free education system. Every grade has a school fee structure on top of books, uniforms, supplies, and activity fees. This will cover the cost of all these expense for a girl for a year.
School Books | $25/month
The Kenyan School System does not have free education or supplies. That means that every term the girls need new text books. We try to reuse books as much as possible but each school has different requirements. This is a huge need to be covered.
Transportation| $30/ month
The business of the city transportation is part of the culture of Kenya that the girls both love and could do less of. Between travels to school, church, activities, the store, there is a huge need to cover the cost of transportation.
Food| $50/month
Our beautiful house mothers are responsible for making and teaching the girls how to make healthy and balanced meals.
Electricity| $45/ Month
Kenya has a power company that is a monopoly in the country. unfortunately this means that rates can change in a blink of an eye. This is one of our biggest expenses and needs for the stability and function of the SHAN house.
Insurance| $10/month
It is a huge gift to be able to bless these girls with the safety of medical insurance. We often use this coverage and have been so thankful for it in times of need.
Water Bill | $50/month
Every month we have our water tanks filled by the City of Nairobi. With the house full of girl who are trying to look their best for school we have to make sure our water bill is covered every month!
